A landscaper was severely injured (pedestrian accident) after being struck by a car in Poway Tuesday morning. The accident occurred around 8:42 a.m. on Twin Peaks Road, west of Maple Street.

The sheriff’s department believes the landscaper was wearing earplugs at the time of the accident and may not have heard the car coming.

According to CHP officials, the 41-year-old worker was standing in the bike lane and using a leaf blower. Unfortunately, he was in the path of an 81-year-old woman driving a Lexus sedan and was struck.

The man was taken to Palomar Medical Center with life-threatening injuries to his head and body. The man works for Heaviland Enterprises, Inc. according to the sheriff’s department.

The woman stopped immediately and was questioned. Officials said speed and alcohol appear to have not been factors of this crash.

Deputies are advising drivers to be aware of roadside workers and give them a wide berth.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a pedestrian accident, seek the help of an experienced attorney.
